After waiting what seemed to be an eternity to see V/H/S I was certainly not disappointed, however I did feel the scares were few and far between. As most of you know I am not the biggest fan of sequels, however after watching the trailer for the second instalment of V/H/S I am excited beyond words for this movie. I do feel that there is a risk of a series running into the ground (Paranormal Activity is one example) and there is a limited number of possibilities for a number of V/H/S sequels, but I hope that there won't be too many of these films before they get boring, predictable and above all else stale as week old bread. Enjoy the trailer below:

A Quick Update And A Butt Load Of Trailers
I haven't been very frequent with my updates as of late, again due to work and other things getting in the way. I have been in the process of weeding through short stories, scripts and novel ideas as of late and focusing on creative ideas that may buy me a ticket out of a mundane pseudo career in retail.
The second film I am going to talk about is "Elysium" starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster and directed by Neil Blomkamp (District 9). Set in 2154 there is a safe haven away from a ravaged earth called Elysium. Matt Damons' Character fights his way from earth to stop the social divide between earth and Elysium. Check out the trailer below:
The final film I am going to talk about is "Game". This is a short film by Canadian director Josh Macdonald. I had the pleasure of catching this with my good lady before the preview showing of John Dies at the End at the Dundead movie festival last week. the story begins with a young woman being chased through woodland by three butt ugly hillbillies. What came next was a little piece of brilliant horror movie story telling with a great twist to finish. If you have the chance check it out. Watch the trailer:

During my last post I mentioned a fantastic new project from the genius band I Fight Dragons called "Project Atma" Please go and check out the official Kickstarter website for the project at the link below. I would urge everyone to embrace this band in your life:
The first film that I want to discuss is RIPD. Having just read the graphic novel after watching the trailer, I am really excited for this movie. The casting of Jeff Bridges in the lead role of Roy and Ryan Reynolds as Nick Diaz seems pretty obvious. The tone of the film is very similar to Men In Black, much in the same way as the graphic novel is. Check out the trailer below:

Project Atma Needs YOU !!!!
If you read this blog, you will know that I am a huge I Fight Dragons fan. Recently they announced that they will be releasing Project Atma. This is an ambitious chiptune opera. If you are not familiar with chiptune, this is music made using games consoles. This project is being funded using Kickstarter, a seemingly popular way of funding a new movie, album, book ect. The project went live this morning with a target of $20,000. This target has already been smashed with a total of $38,701 at time of writing. This is a really great project so please check them out and donate if you want by follwing the link below:

Evil Dead Review
This review will NOT contain spoilers
Ever since the announcement that Evil Dead was to be remade I was sceptical to say the least. Having only viewed The Evil Dead at the age of 18, it quickly became not only one of my favourite films, but part of my favourite film series.
The film has later been stated as not a remake, but an additional film to the Evil Dead saga, with the most recent rumour that Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness 2 would somehow see Ash and Mia's stories intertwine in some way.
Directed by Fede Alvarez, his first English language movie, and produced my Sam Rami, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert, The Evil Dead opens with a group of old friends meeting at a cabin to help Mia (Jane Levy) rehab from a drug habit. When the group stumble upon dead animals, other sacrificial items and a black package wrapped in barbed wire (that really should have been a sign) terrible things begin to happen to Mia, her brother David and interchangeable friends.
I must say that overall Evil Dead is a pretty great film, whilst it's no new story and is from a genre style that has been done to death, it still stands up against the original. Apart from the fantastic Levy, the acting is a bit wooden in parts and the dialogue is slightly cheesy in parts. The effects are a fantastic mix of modern CGI effects and the more prominent old style prosthetic effects that are more common with the original. The blood and gore is fast a furious pretty much from the moment the starting credits role. The only issue I have is that the film seemingly ends and then keeps going for an additional 10 mins or so of the most horrific special effects work I have seen in a long time, which includes Evil Dead staple, the chainsaw. I would strongly suggest for somebody that has not seen the originals to watch this film and then go back and watch the originals for fun.
I for one welcome a sequel (which I don't normally) for this modernisation of a classic horror series. I am really interested to see what is to come next:

Two Very Cool New Videos Promoting Man Of Steel
Two incredibley cool promo spots for the upcoming Man Of Steel movie have appeared online in the past couple of days and I for one am excited beyond belief for the impending Superman reboot. The first is a viral video announcing the arrival of General Zod (Michael Shannon) to earth:
The second is a brand new extended look at the movie itself. The new trailer features really close looks at Superman fixtures such as Zod, Jor-El, Lois Lane and The Fortress Of Solitude:

Wrestlemania 29 Preview
Well it's that time of year again. As a life long wrestling fan I get excited every year to see what WWE is going to do with their flagship pay per view. This year the event takes place at Met Life Stadium in New York/New Jersey. Below are my thoughts on each match:
1. Intercontinental Championship Wade Barrett (C) Vs. The Miz. (Youtube Preshow Match)
First off I really can't understand how this match isn't on the card and how these two, Barrett in particular, are not on the card. This should be the usual time filler that will eventually appear on the extras when Wrestlemania comes out on DVD and Blu Ray. This should be a decent match, but don't expect to see the best of these two in the 10 minutes the match will last.
2. Tons Of Funk And The Funkadactyls Vs. Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins.
In my opinion this match should have been the preview show match. This match could go one of two ways. The first scenario is that it could be an out and out squash match with Clay and Tensai winning the match. The second scenario is that The Rhodes Scholars win and all is well with the world.
3. Chris Jericho Vs. Fandango.
This is a strange one. Chris Jericho, whilst not in the peak years of his career, is still one of the top guys in the WWE at this time. Fandango is a weird gimmick for a guy who is just ok. This match will probably be all Jericho with little more than a few attempts at a comeback from Fandango.
4. WWE Tag Team Championship Team Hell No (C) Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston.
I am a fan of all the competitors in this match. Team Hell No have proven that a team of such polar opposites can work well together. Ziggler and Langston have also proven the same thing since teaming together. This should be a decent match, expect a lot of power spots from Kane and Big E Langston. I really think that the titles will change hands.
5. Ryback vs. Mark Henry.
Two fat guys with lots of posing and a couple of impressive lifts. Thats all I am going to say
6. Randy Orton, Big Show And Sheamus Vs. The Shield
This is match essentially all of the guys that are main event players, but couldn't fit into the title matches. This should be a pretty good back and forth match. I really like the Shield I've even warmed to the very basic wrestling ability of Roman Reigns. Expect a heel turn from Randy Orton or The Big Show and The Shield to pick up the win.
7. World Heavyweight Title Alberto Del Rio (C) Vs. Jack Swagger.
This feud reminds me of the JBL/Eddie Guerrero storyline a few years ago with the boarder line racism. This match doesn't really excited me at all. While both men are great in the ring it seems like a match that would have been better for TV and not the flagship PPV. I don't expect a title change due to Swaggers recent real life run in with the law.
8. Triple H Vs. Brock Lesnar No Holds Barred.
This promises to be a decent match if the run ins on TV have been anything to go by. Expect to see a bit of a blood bath that WWE probably wouldn't put on TV due to it's non PG content. Also look out for Shawn Michaels and Paul Heyman to get involved, probably determining the result of the match.
9. Undertaker Vs. CM Punk.
This is the match I a most looking forward to watching. It's no secret that I am a huge fan of CM Punk and in my childhood I was a huge Undertaker fan. The story behind the match has been taken to a personal level with the inclusion of the recently deceased Paul Bearer being used in a controversial way. I don't expect Punk to end the streak, although a man can dream. Expect Taker to go 21-0 at Wrestlemania.
10. WWE Championship The Rock (C) Vs. John Cena
This match is no doubt going to be the main event of the night. I just can't be excited about it. I'm not a huge fan of John Cena and his new era Hulk Hogan, dull as ditch water good guy character. The Rock is not much better. I don't like how the WWE has thrown all of it's money behind a guy who left to become a sub par film actor 10 years ago. I don't really care about the outcome, but I can't really call it. The Rock will most likely retain.

Starting As I Mean To Go On....
I haven't posted since January due to work commitments, however I will begin to post a lot more often from today. I have been giving a lot of thought to how I could improve this blog as a whole. While it is fine reviewing movies and trailers I feel like I could be doing more. With that being said I am putting an appeal out to any independent film maker, unsigned band, indie comic book producers and other such creative types. I am offering up to review your film, CD, comic book, book for free. I would obviously need said item to review, but I would review every single item sent to me. If you wish to so please email me a.r.stoker87@googlemail.com or contact me through Twitter for further details.
With all of that out of the way there was one trailer that caught my eye this morning. This Is The End stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and many more as.. well themselves in James Francos' house when the end of the world hits. Watch the trailer below, even if it is for Hermione using swear words:
Heres to the first of many new posts.
